Indie Explorer League

The Indie Explorer League is a community designed to bring together and encourage all lovers of indie and/or obscure games. Whether they're speedrunners, casual players, or game devs themselves, we wanted to create a place where everyone can feel safe and comfortable in their love of indie and obscure games.

According to Wikipedia, a indie game is "a video game typically created by individuals or smaller development teams without the financial and technical support of a large game publisher". We also include fan games and rom hacks/mods that significantly change the game (i.e., more than just graphics changes and simple item swaps) under the term indie.

We define obscure games as games with very small communities or player bases. In a speedrun context, that means games released more than 90 days prior with less than 15 runners on speedrun.com (or 15 unique runner pairs/groups in the case of co-op games).
